From numerous conversations with parents, we know that the ongoing conflict over homework, unsatisfactory test results, and disappointing report card grades strains the nerves of both parents and the child. Already after a few weeks at the Kurpfalz boarding school, a relaxation of this conflict can be seen in most families, as during the week our experienced teachers and boarding school educators take care of academic success. They motivate, praise, and strengthen self-confidence. ## Life at the boarding school For most students, life in a boarding school is a new experience. Living together with peers is not only exciting, it is also fun. Anyone who considers living in a boarding school as a “punishment” certainly cannot be referring to the Kurpfalz boarding school. ## The mentoring programs In the boarding school, younger and older students, girls and boys have their own living areas: the mentorates. The upper school students live in the upper school building, in the gatehouse, or in the Bammentaler Hof, which was completed in 2012, while our lower and middle school students live and reside in the Berghaus. Typically, two students share a comfortably furnished room that they can arrange to their liking. Each mentorship is supervised 24/7 by two educational staff members, the mentors. They are available day and night for the children and adolescents, helping with problems, ensuring order and behavior, and offering affection and guidance. All employees at the boarding school are personally selected by the Lehmann family and are committed to the principles of a clear educational style. This ensures that the children and teenagers are always in good hands at the Kurpfalz Boarding School. ## Quickly make friends After just a few days, new students, for whom the thought of life in a boarding school initially seemed unfamiliar, realize how easy it is to make new friends here. The young people live in modern boarding school buildings in a family atmosphere. Girls and boys have their own living areas, structured by age. Generally, two students share a room. In the upper grades, there are some single rooms. Our mentors supervise the students 24/7 and ensure companionship, support, and a good coexistence. Respect, responsibility, and consideration shape coexistence. Shared meals, mentoring activities, and clear rules strengthen the community. Here, everyone finds their very own place where they can grow within the community. Yes. At the Kurpfalz Internat, over 60 extracurricular projects take place weekly – ranging from music, theater, and sports to technical, creative, and social projects. This allows students to discover their interests, develop their talents, and strengthen the sense of community. Here, you don’t have to actively seek out friends; you practically find them on your own, as it is simply impossible to be alone in the community of the boarding school. From our alumni, we know that the friendships formed at Kurpfalz boarding school often last a lifetime. No problem. The first three months are a probation period. During this phase, one can assess whether they enjoy being with us. After that, the contract runs until the end of the first school year. Subsequently, a termination is possible on February 28 or August 31. This way, students who are still uncertain can get to know the boarding school life completely without any risk. The Kurpfalz boarding school is actually almost a pure boarding school. Among the 170 students, there are only a few day students. This ensures that friends are still around after school.
