Mr. Heuss needs nerves of steel

Mr. Heuss is a favorite colleague of mine, Kirsten Lehmann, because he has a big heart and good nerves. He is the assistant to our boarding school management, responsible for projects and team sports coordinator at Kurpfalz Boarding School.

When I meet Mr. Heuss at dinner before the team games, he usually smiles relaxedly at first and looks forward to the evening. Throughout the competition, one can feel that his tension increases and he hopes that everything works out. Sometimes Mr. Heuss wears a watch that measures his pulse. He does this when he referees a soccer game. He officiates as a referee in the men’s association league and as an assistant referee in the men’s regional league. Actually, his pulse should go up then. We have found that his pulse is usually higher during team games than during a football match. That’s why he needs nerves of steel. Mr. Heuss probably desperately wishes for a video referee, because he can’t get it quite right during the games. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to say “thank you” to him.

Dear Mr. Heuss, thank you very much for always being open to the students, colleagues, and us mentors, not only during team games. Thank you for coming up with great challenges every month. Thank you for always having an encouraging word, a smile, or a relaxed saying on hand – even when we coaches think that it really “isn’t working at all.”

Thank you very much for taking such reliable and competent care of the projects, the study time, the points system, and the weekends. Thank you for being by our side and participating in almost every fun activity. Working with you contributes to making my adventure boarding school particularly vibrant and diverse.

We’ll see each other at the team games – hopefully the Grizzlies will win.
