Festive excursion to the Heidelberg Christmas market
At the end of November, the classes 7a, 7b, and 8a, along with Ms. Zielbauer, Ms. Meessen, and Ms. Mühlböck, took a pre-Christmas trip to the Heidelberg Christmas market. As soon as they arrived at the atmospheric decorated marketplace, the scent of cinnamon, pine greenery, and warm treats filled the air – and the students immediately immersed themselves in the special atmosphere.
While strolling among the lovingly decorated stalls, they discovered all sorts of gifts, handicrafts, and of course, many sweet temptations. A particular highlight of the afternoon was the visit to Mr. Lehmann, who – hardly recognizable – welcomed the groups dressed as Santa Claus. For many, it was a real surprise moment, as Mr. Lehmann has been volunteering for many years at the House of Santa Claus of the Lions Club Heidelberg-Altstadt. He started this special heartfelt project himself and has been organizing it to this day. During the entire Christmas market, members of the Lions Club collect donations for social projects at the Santa Claus House – and once a year, Mr. Lehmann personally steps into the role of Santa Claus to delight both small and large visitors.
With a lot of humor, open ears, and a fair amount of Christmas magic, he brought beaming faces to our classes as well. Numerous photos with Santa Claus were, of course, a must.
Afterwards, many students took the opportunity to take a spin on the carousel – a fun experience that brought about a lot of laughter and rekindled some childhood memories for others. Crepes, caramelized almonds, and warm children’s punch rounded off the visit gastronomically.
The outing was a welcome change from the school routine and not only put the classes in a festive mood but also brought them a little closer together. With many happy moments in their bags, everyone returned home satisfied.
