Award MeisterPOWER 2025

Imagine you are twelve years old and run a crafts business. Unimaginable? Not at MeisterPOWER. In the online competition of the Chambers of Crafts in Baden-Württemberg, students take on the role of a boss of a virtual craft business. You make business decisions, keep an eye on the finances, and face the challenge of achieving the best possible operating result within three game months.

“It is about practical action, strategic thinking, and teamwork,” explains Susanne Bäcker-Valerius from the Mannheim Rhein-Neckar-Odenwald Chamber of Crafts. Exactly that was experienced by the students of the 9th grades of the upper secondary school and the 10th grades of the secondary school at Kurpfalz-Internat Bammental, which participated in the competition in the 2024/2025 school year.

Success did not take long to arrive: Four teams from the Kurpfalz boarding school were awarded in the region of the Mannheim Chamber of Crafts. In level 1 (grades seven to nine), the team “AJA” with Andreas, Jakob, and Yunyu (Alex) took the 1st place. The The 2nd place went to the “Broccoli Turtles” with Jessica, Nico, and Shona. Den “Team 1” consisting of Helene, Matteo, and Anna secured 3rd place. In level 2 (grades ten and eleven), Benyapha, Caroline, and Gaia achieved the 3rd place.

“According to our experience, the students really enjoy gaining insights into various trades in this way,” emphasizes Susanne Bäcker-Valerius. MeisterPOWER can be flexibly used in classes, includes ten independently playable scenarios, and conveys economic competencies in a playful manner. This is how the processes in companies become realistically experienceable. The press release from the Mannheim Rhein-Neckar-Odenwald Chamber of Crafts states: “Those who work well together not only have more fun playing, but also better chances of winning.” “At the Kurpfalz Boarding School in Bammental and at the Carl Benz Gymnasium, this has obviously been achieved particularly well, as the results now show.”

The excellent teams of the Kurpfalz boarding school received certificates and prizes worth a total of around 1,000 euros. Overall, the competition, which was held under the patronage of Minister of Culture Dr. Susanne Eisenmann, was endowed with prizes totaling 8,000 euros.

The Kurpfalz boarding school congratulates all the award winners warmly on their outstanding success. The award not only demonstrates economic understanding but also how valuable teamwork and collaboration are for collective success – just like in true craftsmanship.
