Graduating class of 1975
Every ten years, they meet – the 1975 graduating class of the Kurpfalz boarding school. It has long been a cherished tradition that shows how deep the connections among each other and with the school still are even after so many decades.
This year, the group not only looked back on old times but also on many anecdotes that shaped the boarding school life back then. The strict but respected Erna, who at that time held “all the strings” at the Kurpfalz boarding school, remains unforgettable. One of the former students fondly recalled a particular scene from the Latin class: Erna stormed in – clearly in a bad mood – and asked the teacher to test the student in front of the class. The student, already known for his weakness in Latin, quickly made up free translations. To everyone’s surprise, the teacher nodded in agreement – just to avoid falling from grace with Erna.
The legendary pranks from that time also came to life again at the meeting. Particularly popular: the sneaky swapping of salt and sugar during dinner – a fun prank that especially caused some surprises on pancake days. And of course, the classic among the memories had to be included: the boiled eggs that were served every Sunday evening and that were part of a fixed ritual for many.
The group has remained in close contact to this day, many of them have stayed friends since school.
This class reunion has once again shown that the time spent at the Kurpfalz boarding school leaves behind not just educational material but, above all, stories, friendship, and solidarity – across generations.
