School at the Kurpfalz Boarding School
A modern school with visions
In a rapidly changing world, educational content, teaching methods, and technical facilities in schools must constantly be subjected to a critical review. At Kurpfalz Internat, we want to be a modern school that, despite all its modernity, does not neglect classical values. Over the last 60 years, we have therefore repeatedly critically examined and carefully developed our educational concept, without losing sight of the student.
Classroom of the Future
Modern presentation techniques are now standard tools in education and professional life. Therefore, at Kurpfalz Boarding School, we have equipped all classrooms from 7th grade onwards and the specialized rooms with interactive 4K displays. Working with managed iPads and giving presentations using PowerPoint® are integral to the school, as is supporting the lessons with artificial intelligence and sources from the internet. The rapid development of artificial intelligence is already making it an essential part of everyday life. We are also constantly addressing the opportunities and risks and see it as our duty to educate our students on responsible use. A critical and responsible approach to these new technologies is of high priority at Kurpfalz Boarding School.
Lessons in double periods rhythm
At the Kurpfalz Boarding School, we teach from Monday to Friday. The weekend is free. The modern daily schedule follows the double period principle. It offers our teachers the opportunity to teach using innovative, action-oriented methods. Breaks do not follow a static bell signal but can be individually adjusted to the attention level of the class.
By focusing on fewer subjects each day, what is learned remains prominent in memory even with many lessons. Daily, supervised homework sessions provide the structure for efficient preparation and follow-up of lessons.

Office hours with the math and English tutor
During study periods, teachers are available in the afternoon as math and English tutors for consultation. Here, every student has the opportunity to discuss their individual problems with a subject teacher and receive assistance. If there are significant gaps in knowledge, individual tutoring sessions will be arranged with the students.
Cooperation and communication
The daily school assembly, where we meet with our students, provides a forum for exchange and is an essential part of our strong school community. Here, information can be shared, and praise and awards have a fixed place.
Four detailed assessments per year.
Communication with the parents’ home is important to us. We know that the decision to entrust the well-being of one’s child to a boarding school is not always easy. For us as the sponsoring family, it is therefore important to maintain a trusting partnership with the parents’ home. In particular, parents whose children live at the boarding school desire regular and timely information about their academic and personal development. We meet this request by issuing a report card to our students four times a year.
In addition to the oral and written grades, each subject teacher prepares a written assessment of the current development in each subject. This provides parents and students with guidance on what has been achieved and the goals to be set for the future.
Parents’ evenings
On two parent-teacher conference days in autumn and spring, our teachers are happy to answer questions about the current performance levels. But even outside of school, we keep parents of our students informed about current developments through our online information system that are of interest to them.
As partners of the family home, we see it as our duty to equip our students with a solid value system that enables them to navigate their lives independently in the future.
