School at the Kurpfalz Boarding School

Our Idea & Family Sponsorship

Dear parents, dear students,

Rarely can a lack of academic success be explained by a lack of intelligence. This insight prompted my mother, Erna Lehmann, to establish the private Kurpfalz boarding school in 1961.

I was the first student myself. Much to my mother’s dismay, I had focused more on my hobby, electronics, than on learning mathematics and Latin. As a result of my lack of school engagement, my academic performance declined.

My mother knew me well and understood that staying at a state school would be useless for me. Only the consistent addressing of my knowledge and understanding gaps from the past years could secure my academic success in the long term and successfully lead me to the Abitur.

She decided to take my education into her own hands and open a boarding school for me. It is certainly not the most common idea to start a boarding school out of dissatisfaction with the school system, but this brave decision of my mother has helped me and more than three thousand other students to gain new self-confidence and successfully complete school with a high school diploma or secondary school certificate.

Today – over 60 years after its founding by my mother – my son, my daughter-in-law, and my granddaughter continue our shared life’s work. Together with our experienced teachers and mentors, we as a family see our mission in giving our students back the joy of school and preparing them for a successful life.

With our gymnasium track, our secondary school track, and probably the smallest class sizes in Germany, we are opening up diverse paths to academic success today.

I would like to invite you to get to know our school and boarding concept during a personal visit. Take the opportunity to learn why we at Kurpfalz Internat can unlock the potential of our students better than others. We look forward to your visit.
