School at the Kurpfalz Boarding School
Individual support in small classes
Some children start their school careers with enthusiasm, they put in effort and are always among the best in the class. Others face challenges early on in developing their potential in the large classes of regular school. Despite similar intelligence, they develop quite differently.
Our experience
Our experiences gained at the Kurpfalz boarding school since 1961 have shown us that the causes of performance fluctuations in intelligent children are diverse:
The rigid state school system makes it difficult to promote individual learning abilities, overcrowded classes leave little room for the individual teacher to cater to students, and early decisions regarding foreign languages or school tracks do not always do justice to a student’s development. Extended illness, missed classes, or transferring to another school can unintentionally plunge some children into a school crisis.
Even highly gifted individuals increasingly fail due to the lack of flexibility in the state school system. Additionally, there is often a growing burden from extracurricular activities, the pressure of the eight-year gymnasium, and the overload of stimuli from the ubiquitous variety of media.
When several of the mentioned factors come together, school performance often declines slowly but steadily. Since many subjects build on material from previous years, missing fundamental knowledge from earlier grades becomes insurmountable obstacles as the level increases.
Parents react with concern
Tutoring sessions, crisis meetings, promised improvement, and joint efforts towards the end of the school year can initially avert the crisis.
However, behind these efforts lies the fact that only the symptoms are being addressed. Necessary foundational knowledge is still lacking, and work habits and learning methodologies are not changing. Gaps in knowledge and understanding accumulate year by year, until sometimes the notation “will not be promoted” appears on the report card.
It doesn’t have to come to that
At the Kurpfalz boarding school, we have developed a school concept that focuses on the sustainability of educational development, meets the needs of our students in particular, promotes and challenges them, restores their joy in school, and secures long-term success.
Classes with a maximum of ten students
Our classes never have more than ten students. Our teachers take the time for each individual. This guarantees more attention and personalized support. Everyone can ask questions, and everyone is asked. Those who bring problems from previous years receive integrated tutoring sessions, coaching in the daily schedule, or intensive individual support for spelling issues.
Connected with the clear objective of our students to improve their performance, early successes soon emerge, showing that school can be fun.
30 Reasons for the Kurpfalz Boarding School
At Kurpfalz Internat, we develop your child’s hidden potential. Here are 30 reasons why you should give your child very special years at Kurpfalz Internat.
Orientation, self-confidence, and motivation
In a time when the world seems to be falling apart, it is important for us as a family of educators to support our students in their development into confident individuals and to impart important values for a successful life path.
Classes at the Kurpfalz boarding school have no more than 10 students.
In classes with no more than TEN students, our dedicated teachers take the time for each individual. Here, everyone can ask questions, and everyone is asked. Our teachers explain, review, and have patience. In the individual atmosphere of the small learning group, everyone receives the attention they deserve.
We see the POTENTIAL, not the weaknesses.
Thanks to the effective teaching and the focused work atmosphere, our students benefit more from their classes. They learn that problems can be solved, successes are motivating, and school can be fun. The positive feedback strengthens their self-confidence and motivates them to realize their potential.
