Digital work with the iPad starting from 7th grade
The Kurpfalz Boarding School is a boarding school with an educational concept that we have continuously developed over the years. We know that the future of education and professional life is digital. Therefore, it is important for us to prepare our students for the challenges of digital, lifelong learning even during their school years.
On the path of digitizing instruction, we have already taken many steps. Our classrooms and specialized rooms are equipped with digital Cleartouch© displays and PCs. The school cloud IMS and video teaching during the Corona pandemic have already made digital learning a matter of course at the Kurpfalz boarding school.
iPad©-supported teaching
We have fully digitized the teaching at Kurpfalz Internat in 2023. All grade levels have since been working with managed iPads©. With this step, we aim to further strengthen the digital skills of our students and take advantage of the benefits of digital teaching with iPads.
In advance, we engaged intensively with schools that have accumulated several years of experience using iPads©. They convinced us that the iPad© is not a toy for students in the classroom, but a educational tool that not only replaces traditional textbooks but also enables the use of a variety of educational apps, providing a new dimension to learning. Digital worksheets, learning tests, and digital notes allow for the consolidation of content and the organized retention of results in just one device, which can be conveniently taken anywhere.
iPad© as a managed device for school
The iPad© at Kurpfalz Internat is purely an instructional device, with apps and access centrally controlled by the school administration through the JAMF platform. Neither personal apps can be installed nor can the iPad© be used outside of designated time windows for non-educational activities. Our students do not receive a multifunctional gaming device but rather a work tool for school purposes. A personal Apple ID cannot be integrated. This ensures that the iPad is a purely educational device without apps like TikTok, Instagram, or SnapChat.
Free Apple iPad©
The school has decided on the Apple iPad as the student device, which is provided free of charge by the Kurpfalz boarding school. A paid upgrade to the iPad Air 256 GB is possible.
Digital training of the teaching team
Our teachers have already deepened and expanded many digital competencies through digital instruction during video teaching. In the 2022/2023 school year, our teachers were additionally prepared for the introduction of the iPad© as a teaching device through digital training. Since then, our teachers have been continually continuing their education to take advantage of the diverse possibilities of new applications.
