Favorite encounter in October

Sometimes just a few minutes on campus are enough to feel: Someone has arrived here. That’s how it was with Mr. Knebel. When he first entered the boarding school as a violence prevention trainer a few years ago, he was impressed – by the villa, by the warmth, and by the magic that was in the air here. Something told him: MORE

This could be a place where he can truly make an impact. Today he is a mentor at OST – and for many students, someone who makes a difference.

Sometimes you see him with a skateboard, sometimes with a bicycle – always sporty, always approachable, always ready to go. An inspiring conversation partner with modern and traditional values. Politeness, reliability, helpfulness, honesty, and loyalty – for him, these are not just phrases, but lived values.

He has seen a lot, experienced a lot, and brings a vast wealth of experience as a trained carpenter, work educator, and long-time anti-violence trainer. He encounters young people on equal terms – with respect, genuine interest, and a fine sensitivity for when someone needs a mentor who listens instead of lecturing.

Mr. Knebel embodies what many appreciate about the Kurpfalz boarding school: structure and warmth. He sees the role that a young person currently has – and accompanies them in figuring out which role they would like to take on in the future. That he takes his time, looks closely, listens, and supports creates safety and trust.

My conclusion: Mr. Knebel has his heart in the right place and is a strong companion by the side of our students. He does not shy away from conflicts when it comes to advancing their development – and remains always reflective and adaptable.

My meetings with Mr. Knebel are true favorite encounters. Thank you very much for that.
