Thanks to a strong qualifying performance, our basketball team was allowed to participate in the district final in Bruchsal. The tournament was held in two groups of three, with the group winners and runners-up then competing in the semifinals and the final for the title.

For the district final, we were able to recruit another player, Marlene, who already has club experience. Despite physical disadvantages against the mostly older boys, she managed to score the first points for our team.

Overall, our team struggled in both games. In the first game, we kept up well in the first half, especially Hendrik found his way to the basket time and again. After the break, the opponents were able to increasingly utilize their experience as club players and slowly pulled ahead. In the second game, we faced the Gregor Mendel Secondary School from Heidelberg, which fielded two youth Bundesliga players. Against this superior team, our players understandably could offer little in response, even though Darius was occasionally able to score points through offensive rebounds.

Despite the challenges, a playful development was clearly noticeable compared to the first tournament. Everyone gave their best, showed full commitment, and fought until the end – a great achievement!
