Again a MINT-friendly school
Kurpfalz Boarding School awarded as a MINT-friendly school
Great joy at the Kurpfalz boarding school: Our school has been awarded the title of “MINT-friendly school”! Thus, the Kurpfalz Boarding School is one of the educational institutions that particularly emphasizes mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology – specifically preparing young people for the future in a digital and technological world.
The Kurpfalz Boarding School has been awarded the title of “MINT-friendly school,” making it one of the 152 schools in Baden-Württemberg that were honored for their commitment to mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, and technology at a ceremonial event hosted by SAP in Sankt Leon-Rot on October 17, 2025. The award recognizes schools that sustainably promote STEM skills and introduce students to science, research, and digital education at an early stage.
The award was presented by Sandra Boser, State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Youth, and Sports of Baden-Württemberg, together with Dr. Katharina Schäfer (SAP), Stefan Küpper (Südwestmetall), Thomas Sattelberger (founder and honorary chairman of “Creating MINT Future!”), and Juliane Meister (Knowledge Factory – Companies for Germany).
The initiative “Creating a Future in STEM!” is under the patronage of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK) and is supported by numerous national partners. The aim is to support schools that inspire enthusiasm for technology and sciences through innovative teaching concepts, projects, and collaborations.
For the Kurpfalz boarding school, this award is a significant sign of recognition and also an incentive to consistently continue on the path taken. STEM subjects have a firm place in the curriculum and daily school life at the boarding school. In addition to traditional teaching, numerous practical projects, competitions, and working groups provide impetus for research-based and exploratory learning. Especially independent work, developing creative solutions, and the interplay between theory and practice are the main focus.
The students benefit from a modern learning environment that combines scientific thinking with practical application. Through close collaboration with universities, regional companies, and research institutions, theory and application are interconnected in a special way. This creates valuable insights into technical professions and scientific fields of study – and the young people are optimally prepared for the demands of a digitally shaped future.
“This award demonstrates how committed and forward-looking our faculty works,” emphasizes the management of the Kurpfalz boarding school. “We want to empower our students to ask questions, think creatively, and take responsibility – qualities that are of central importance in a technology-driven world.”
With the award as a “MINT-friendly school,” the Kurpfalz boarding school emphasizes its profile as a modern educational institution that promotes scientific curiosity, provides practical experiences, and instills a joy for research.
The award is not only a success for the faculty and the student body but also an incentive to continue creating innovative teaching and to keep the enthusiasm for STEM subjects alive.
