Kurpfalz Boarding School on the move: Class trip of K2 to Barcelona
Hello, Barcelona! K2 has experienced Gaudí, Sagrada Família, and Las Ramblas – an eventful week in Barcelona filled with architectural icons, vibrant city culture, and many shared moments is behind K2.
On Monday morning, our course trip started: At 6:15 AM, the group met at KPI, and then we took the bus to Stuttgart Airport. At noon, the stage reached Barcelona. After the short shuttle ride to the accommodation, everyone took the time to settle in and relax. In the evening, we ended the day with a shared meal.
On Tuesday, a city tour through the Gothic Quarter was on the agenda, providing orientation and initial insights into the history and present of Barcelona. At the Mercat de Santa Caterina, we tried culinary specialties. We also saw the remains of the Temple of Augustus, whose columns have stood in Barcelona since the 1st century BC, integrated into a residential building and later uncovered again. In the evening, we came together again for a shared meal – including tapas, among other things.
Wednesday morning was entirely dedicated to Gaudí: During the visit to the Sagrada Família, we experienced the connection of architecture, light, and symbolism – from the delicate facades and the connection to Catalan culture to the color-filled interior. Afterwards, there was time for personal priorities: exploring the city in small groups or swimming in the sea – with supervision. The evening was individually designed and offered space to quietly reflect on the impressions of the day.
On Thursday, the next highlight followed: the visit to Park Güell. Amid mosaics, garden layouts, and an impressive view of Barcelona, there was plenty of space for impressions and photos. Many took advantage of the last free afternoon to further explore the city in small groups. We spent our last evening together on the beach of Barceloneta and concluded our course trip in beautiful togetherness.
On Friday morning, the journey back began: The shuttle took the group to the airport, so we were back in Stuttgart at 3:30 PM – tired but satisfied, with many impressions and unforgettable moments. Until next time, Barcelona!
