Help that arrives: Donation funds handover
The Christmas market of the Kurpfalz boarding school took place several months ago – and yet it is now evident how sustainable its impact is. What was created back then with a lot of dedication, creativity, and a sense of community has now culminated in two very special encounters: The donation checks were presented.
As in every year, the proceeds from the Christmas market were entirely donated to two social projects. The decision was made by the student parliament. In 2024, the choice fell on the children’s hospice Sterntaler and SOS Children’s Villages – worldwide – two organizations that are deeply committed to helping children and adolescents in difficult situations.
Touching encounter at the children’s hospice
Our student representatives Pascal and Marlin personally visited the children’s hospice Sterntaler to present a donation check of 5,000 euros. On-site, they experienced how valuable and necessary the work being done there is— and how much care is given to the affected children and their families. It was an emotional visit that deeply moved both of them and once again demonstrated the importance of social engagement— and that every donation can truly make a difference.
SOS Children’s Villages visiting Bammental
Shortly thereafter, the second donation handover took place – this time at the Kurpfalz boarding school itself. Petra Sorge-Booms, head of the Düsseldorf office of SOS Children’s Villages worldwide, personally accepted the symbolic check. In an impressive speech, she thanked all the students, staff, and families who made this success possible.
She reported on children and young people who find protection, education, and security in SOS Children’s Villages around the world – and made it clear how significant a donation like this is. Her words resonated and left a sense of gratitude and reflection alike.
