Successful 8th round of the team games – The Sharks triumph!
The eighth round of team games at Kurpfalz Internat was an exciting evening for the KPI students. All students—with the exception of those taking their final exams—took part in the round, which was great fun and produced some surprising results.
The teams – Sharks, Grizzlies, Panthers, and Falcons – competed against each other in ten games during the March round. The Sharks were able to prevail that evening through ambition and dedication. They won seven of the ten singles matches, securing first place in this round.
The following games were held, among others:
Egg cartons
A particularly funny and challenging game was the egg carton game led by Mrs. Zimmermann. On a table were several egg cartons in which table tennis balls needed to be placed. The task was to skillfully throw the balls into the indentations of the egg cartons – but not just any way, rather so that they lay like “eggs” in the indentations! Two teams competed against each other, and each team had 3 minutes to place as many balls as possible into the boxes. An exciting aspect was that only one player per team was allowed to throw, while the players alternated in the relay race. The balls that landed next to the boxes were allowed to be picked up again and thrown once more. In the end, the team that either filled all the boxes or finished the round with the most balls in the boxes won. The Panthers showed their skill here and secured the victory in this game.
Corner Shooting
Another exciting game was the corner shooting, where each team had to complete a total of 3 rounds with 20 shots each. In this game, the students had to shoot from the corner of the playing field towards the goal. A goal scored brought 5 points, hitting the post gave 1 point, and hitting the crossbar gave 2 points. A combination of goal and post was also possible and brought 6 points. Each player had 5 shots and had to ensure that the ball did not go out of bounds, as this would make the attempt invalid. The Sharks demonstrated their scoring accuracy in this competition and managed to come out on top with the most points scored.
Giant tire rolling
Another highlight was the giant tire rolling, where the students had to roll a large tire in pairs. Each round involved the team rolling the tire once to the finish line (at the height of the old schoolhouse) and back before the next team could take their turn. A total of three rounds were completed, and the team with the best time ranked first.
The other teams can also be proud of their performances. The Falcons and Grizzlies shared the second place with equal points. Unfortunately, the Panthers had to settle for fourth place. But as always, it is not yet decided at all.
The current score in the school year is as follows:
