Hanseatic Highlights

The 10th grade discovers Hamburg.

A journey full of impressions, encounters, and discoveries – the class trip of the 10th grade of the Realschule at Kurpfalz-Internat this year took them to the vibrant Hanseatic city of Hamburg. Between the Speicherstadt and the Elbe, fascinating places, moving moments, and a lot of North German charm awaited.

Five days in Hamburg meant for the 10th grade of the Realschule at the Kurpfalz boarding school: immersing themselves in a city full of life, history, and modern culture. After the long journey, the first evening began relaxed with a joint dinner at the restaurant “Giovanni.” In a familiar setting, everyone was able to arrive and get in tune with the upcoming days.

On the second day, a whole world in miniature opened up at Miniatur Wunderland. The detail-loving landscapes and tiny scenes fascinated the students equally. Afterwards, we went down into the depths – in the submarine museum, everyone was allowed to explore a real submarine and got an impression of life on board. The evening was crowned by the musical “& Julia,” which captivated with its music, colors, and energy.

Wednesday offered a change of perspective on multiple levels. In the Museum of Illusions, the young people learned how easily the human eye can be deceived, and during the “Dialogue in Silence,” they vividly experienced what communication without words means. The evening city tour of Hamburg combined knowledge and entertainment in a lively way – with stories, anecdotes, and a lot of North German humor.

The fourth day was also quite something: at the Chocoversum, everyone could create their own chocolate – a sweet highlight before it got exciting and eerie at the Hamburg Dungeon. The subsequent neighborhood walk through St. Pauli provided insights into the cultural diversity and the tumultuous history of the city’s most famous district.

On October 3rd, it was time to say goodbye – not without taking one last look at the Elbe, the harbor, and the Speicherstadt. With many new impressions, exciting experiences, and a strong sense of community, the group returned to the Kurpfalz boarding school.
