Intensive courses for dyslexics
In our summer school, children with dyslexia or reading and writing difficulties receive individually tailored support that goes far beyond traditional tutoring. Together with experienced learning therapists, we develop a personal therapy plan to specifically address deficits, strengthen self-confidence, and ignite a joy for learning. Thanks to close collaboration with the ASS Learning Therapy Center in Heidelberg, the children benefit from a proven concept that combines training, practice, and therapy – for sustainable progress and a new self-confidence in dealing with language.
Dyslexia training in the Summer School
Children who have significant difficulties with reading and writing despite good intelligence require targeted and effective support. At the Summer School at the Kurpfalz Internat, children with dyslexia/LRS work on building their skills according to an individual therapy plan. Experienced learning therapists help your child overcome existing weaknesses using their existing strengths. The specific goals are determined based on the degree of the specific learning disorder, and the content and differentiated methods are selected accordingly.
Diagnosis, anamnesis, planning
Before the start of the Summer School, we conduct a detailed conversation to discuss your child’s previous development and to present our concept and planning for intensive support. We include previous tests and diagnoses as well as analyses of current essays. In a preliminary test, we can assess your child’s performance level and areas of weakness. We can also observe the strategies your child uses, the methods they pursue, and the options they utilize for control.
Course selection
Sie können auswählen, ob Sie einen Intensivkurs mit 6 Schülern wählen oder einen Kurs in einem anderen Kursfach (Deutsch, Englisch, Französisch, Latein oder Mathematik) mit einer begleitenden Einzelstunde Rechtschreibförderung. Hierbei beraten wir Sie gerne.
Contents and methods
For your child and for you, it was certainly often not easy to cope with this weakness and to find the best way each time. Constant failures, up to exclusion by others, also leave psychological marks.
In intensive support, we focus both on addressing deficits in literacy acquisition and its related areas, and it is very important to us that your child experiences success, builds self-confidence, and increases the belief that obstacles can indeed be overcome. We orient ourselves to your child’s level and gradually develop competencies using varied methods. At the same time, the children learn where these weaknesses come from, what research has found, and how they can still feel valuable.
The ASS Learning Therapy Center Heidelberg at the Kurpfalz Boarding School
Our partner is the ASS Learning Therapy Center, which has been successfully collaborating with the Kurpfalz Boarding School for 15 years. Right on site, students can either be integrated into the school day or gain a different approach to reading and writing during the summer school. With the ASS learning concept, they experience that reading and writing can be fun, and they can trust in their abilities—even in this negatively viewed area of learning. Our learning therapy closely combines training, practice, and therapy. Skills are acquired while children simultaneously learn to deal with their weaknesses more confidently.
The children work with systemic-integrative learning therapists with an academic background. Due to their professionalism and many years of experience, they can flexibly respond to the needs of the children and support them in a goal-oriented and humorous way.
