Room wishes with heart: A special tradition

This tradition has existed at the Kurpfalz boarding school for many years. It was created at the initiative of the then headmaster of the boarding school, Mike Homer, and since then it has become an integral part of boarding school life.

At the end of each school year, the students not only fill out their room preference forms but also get creative. The wishes could hardly be more different. From self-built models and crafted artworks to animated presentations, videos, and PowerPoint shows, as well as handwritten letters, everything is included. The idea behind it is always the same: to clearly show once again how much one desires a particular room.

The headmistress, Mrs. König, is a big fan of this loving tradition and looks forward to the many creative submissions every year. However, this flood of heartwarming wishes does not necessarily make the actual room allocation easier. Because in the background, the big puzzle work begins during the summer holidays. Together with the team, Mrs. König works on the room allocation for the new school year, often until the last day of the holiday.

And as much as these room wish actions touch the heart, in a way it’s like Christmas. There are many wishes, but unfortunately not all can be fulfilled.

Nevertheless, this special event remains one of the most beautiful traditions at the Kurpfalz Boarding School – with a lot of heart, creativity, and anticipation for the new school year.
